“Our essential nature is one of pure potentiality.” ~ Deepak Chopra

FULL MOON in CAPRICORN: July 19, 2016 @ 6:56pm at 27 degrees

This Full Moon is born out of the Cancer New Moon and the primary need of remembering to care for ourselves, as well as, connecting to the wisdom embedded in our roots. The culmination of this lunar cycle in Capricorn highlights our personal responsibility and alignment with our Essential Nature. Capricorn is an earth sign and draws us back to that which supports and stabilizes. We can’t help but consider our integrity, commitments, and personal sense of security.

Our essential nature is both mysterious and material. It is where we come to know the meaning of our soul, the longing in our hearts and the purpose of our lives. We are both a servant and shepherd to the creative potential that birthed us; our culture and our history. This is not a suggestion to replicate actions of the past (or to encourage patriotism), but rather recognize our responsibility to that which links us to our lineage and to sup upon the wisdom there. To know what is right and wrong for ourselves as individuals and come to understand the impact we have on our surroundings.

We are the individual threads of integrity being sewn into the fabric of humanity, this includes the myth or the story being told…this timeless myth includes the mystery, the question, and the answer. Myths are not to be believed in, nor are they to be lived by, but rather they are there for us to extract the essential wisdom or the knowledge of the essential self.

I recently read an interview with writer, naturalist, and wilderness explorer Craig Childs who described “the earth – from core to atmosphere to magnetic field – as an organism… a dynamic interplay of forces that doesn’t just break.” We are made of the earth and are readily connecting with the forces of our galactic star system attempting to gain equilibrium and harmony within our cosmic relationship. We don’t just break, but rather we adapt and acclimatize. As Joseph Campbell so perfectly stated, “The goal of life is to make your heartbeat match the beat of the universe, to match your nature with nature.”

Saturn, or Kronos the Father of Time, is the ruling planet of Capricorn. In yoga, Saturn rules the root chakra (Muladhara) and is the foundation upon which we stand. It marks our footprints and traces our journey. Saturn has been retrograde in Sagittarius since March 26 (read more on that here) and plays a dynamic role in this lunation as it prepares to go direct in August. Saturn wants us to sink into the big picture and to anchor our committed focus. This will likely show up in our relationships and our ability to communicate as Saturn is trining both Venus and Mercury. Keep in mind that our ability to commune and relate is the foundation for expressing our essential selves.

The other major happening is Moon/Sun square Uranus in Aries. This brings an unpredictability or unsettling vibration to this lunation. Perhaps a sudden shift in direction or change of mind, most likely something that has been building for several months. The square can also heighten emotions by stirring insecurities, fears, or shame. We may want to break free, but first, we must look clearly at what it is that binds us. Clarity, patience, and courage are the focus as we navigate the current terrain.

We can and will move through the changes, the challenges, the trials… We are born out of creativity, and thus, we are always on the wake of pure potentiality.

With a deeply compassionate heart and unending devotion…elaina
